With more than twenty-five years working in the general trades business, McLeod General Trades has established a reputation and respect for the work we do for our clients. Over the years, we have seen our company grow by adding new team members each year as well as the amount of projects and clients we have had the opportunity to partner with. But we wouldn’t be who we are today without our founder, Ed McLeod.
Ed McLeod’s passion for general trades first began in 1980 when he was hired by First Florida Development, a custom home building company in Stuart, Florida. This position allowed Ed to hone his skills, learn excellence, and commit to high quality in construction. He was also afforded the opportunity to enroll in the Indian River Community College in its carpentry apprentice program. Ed remained with First Florida Development until 1982.
The Path to MGT
Following his time at First Florida Development, Ed moved to the city of Gainesville. He was soon hired as a carpenter by Shands hospital, a role through which he engaged in all phases of commercial carpentry and the general trades. This two-year opportunity was a teaching experience where Ed learned how to work in a controlled environment with the highest quality and safety standards until 1990.
In 1994, Turnkey became McLeod General Trades and added Divisions 6, 8, and 10 general trades services.
Division 10 Distributors was established in 2004. This distributorship of commercial accessories complements McLeod General Trades projects allowed for partnerships and adding excellent personnel to both companies. Ed added partners that allowed him to position both D10 and MGT to sustainably grow as well as expand into new market areas.
The MGT Way is launched companywide from the leadership plugging into the Traction model adopting EOS. The leadership team is officially assembled with a renewed focus on the companies core values and vision. The initial push in strategic alignment in the first year was laser-focused on process and people. Our new company structured around the EOS/Traction model has been streamlined to bring all the strengths of a large company combined with the leanness and agility of a small community-oriented company that is fully vested in its people.
